Athletes in New Delhi Encouraged
The minister of Sport, youth and child development toured the athletes’ village and inspected their rooms to ensure they were in good and habitable condition.
He encouraged the athletes to ‘die a little for Zambia’. Chipungu was impressed that athletes were looking sharp ahead of some competitions and implored them to be fearless. And urged them to work on their weakness.
The National Olympic Committee of Zambia president Miriam Moyo who is also in Delhi said athletes are in high spirits especially following the minister’s visit.
She said athletes are happy with the accommodation and food offered at the Games. She further urged athletes not to relax because the challenge of winning for mother Zambia is quite high.
She said they must justify the funding by winning medals. Both Moyo and Chipungu thanked the Zambian High Commission in India for ensuring that all was in place before the contingent travelled for the Games.
